What drives us

Your flock isn’t a hobby project — it’s a commitment to living things that depend on you. Every hen you bring home deserves a coop that keeps her safe from the raccoon at 2 AM and the hawk at noon.

A cheap coop doesn’t save money. It just moves the cost to the worst possible moment — the morning you find feathers scattered across the yard. We built CoopCraftsPro because we’ve been that morning, and we don’t want anyone else to be.

Our plans give you the same predator-proof, code-smart, weather-tight coop the big brands sell for $549 to $2,599 — for the cost of the lumber and a weekend of your time.

Our story

CoopCraftsPro started the morning a raccoon tore through the wire mesh on a $700 pre-fab coop and killed three of our hens. That coop had a five-star Amazon rating.

We spent the next six months talking to homesteaders, reading county code, and building — then rebuilding — until we had a coop that could take a full-grown raccoon’s weight on the door, shrug off a Zone 4 winter, and still look good enough that our neighbor asked for the plans.

Those plans are what we sell today. Nothing fancy — just the drawings, cut lists, and hardware specs we wish we’d had the first time.

What we believe

Safety first, always

Every plan is designed around ½” hardware cloth, dig aprons, and predator-tested latches. Not decorative. Battle-tested.

Anyone can build it

If you can measure twice and drive a screw, you can build our coops. No specialty tools. No welding. No degree in structural engineering.

Built to last a decade

Cedar, thoughtful ventilation, and proper drainage. Our coops age; they don’t rot. Read our wood guide.
